Reborn Rookie Episode 4 Recap – Episode 4 picks up right after Bang-geul learns the truth, and she’s still struggling to wrap her head around everything that’s happened. Yong-ho, now living in Jun-hyeon’s body, asks her to work with him. His goal is simple: take Choiseong back from the twins and fulfill what he believes was meant to happen. Bang-geul doesn’t immediately agree, and honestly, her hesitation makes sense. Yong-ho even appreciates the fact that she’s careful about trusting someone.
Elsewhere, Byung-mo and Eun-se begin realizing that Director Song Nam-hoon has been manipulating them. Nam-hoon paints Jae-seong as unreliable and claims he’s no different from his father.
The next morning starts chaotically. Bang-geul and Yong-ho arrive late for work, giving the materials team plenty to complain about. Their complaints don’t last long, though. Managing Director Kwon Beom-sik unexpectedly praises the team for standing up to the sales department. He singles out the intern, Jun-hyeon, for recognition and announces a team dinner.
Nobody seems excited about spending an evening with him.
Meanwhile, Yong-ho is feeling pretty pleased with himself after successfully deceiving Byung-mo. His celebration is cut short when Bong-ki calls and orders him to attend the company dinner.
At the gathering, MD Kwon immediately starts throwing his weight around. He orders Bang-geul to pour drinks for everyone at the table. Yong-ho doesn’t take kindly to that. Even though Bang-geul tries to stop him, he openly rebukes the executive for treating her that way.
That confrontation quickly turns into a drinking challenge.
Known throughout the company for his ability to hold his liquor, MD Kwon confidently challenges Jun-hyeon. Yong-ho accepts and raises the stakes. If he wins, company dinners should come to an end.
A flashback reveals that Chairman Kang Yong-ho once defeated Kwon in a similar contest. Back in the present, history repeats itself. Yong-ho wins again, this time while wearing Jun-hyeon’s face, and the exhausted team finally gets to go home.
Afterward, Bang-geul discovers a heavily intoxicated Bong-ki outside the restaurant and asks Yong-ho to take him home.
The next morning, Bong-ki wakes up inside the penthouse apartment and immediately scolds Yong-ho for spending settlement money so freely. Yong-ho responds with an outrageous lie. He claims that he is Chairman Kang’s secret son. According to his story, his father kept him hidden for years. He begs Bong-ki to protect the secret, and surprisingly, Bong-ki buys it.
Yong-ho then shifts the conversation to the ongoing audit problems. He apologizes for the difficulties caused by Jae-seong and gradually pulls Bong-ki onto his side. By the end of the discussion, Bong-ki agrees to help bring down the twins.
Back at Choiseong, police officers arrive to investigate Director Song’s disappearance. Jae-gyeong quickly points them toward Jae-seong, suggesting he may know more than he’s admitting. Jae-seong is questioned but firmly denies any involvement. Even so, he’s clearly shaken by everything that’s happened.
Later, the company’s directors gather for a meeting. Jae-gyeong unveils a new plan involving a battery technology company called GF Solutions and a foreign investor. Privately, Jae-seong confronts her. He accuses her of using slush fund money to establish the investment company and realizes she’s trying to increase her influence by acquiring more company shares. The rivalry between the twins continues to grow.
At the same time, Bang-geul informs Yong-ho about Jae-seong’s involvement in the Yuncheon Port project alongside Taeha, the company connected to his father-in-law.
Yong-ho discusses the situation with Bong-ki and comes to an important conclusion. Jae-seong isn’t really in control. He’s being used by Byung-mo. That realization sparks a new strategy.
While reviewing Bang-geul’s Gangwon port proposal, Yong-ho becomes genuinely impressed by her work. He also studies the directors’ meeting records and notices the connection to GF Solutions. From his perspective, Jae-gyeong appears to be moving slush fund money through the new venture.
Using that information, he approaches Jae-gyeong with Bang-geul’s Gangwon port proposal. He presents it as a way to beat Jae-seong’s Yuncheon project. Not stopping there, Yong-ho takes Bang-geul to meet the Governor of Gangwon’s office. The governor’s secretary is impressed by the proposal and promises to follow up.
Meanwhile, Byung-mo and Eun-se continue discussing Director Song’s betrayal. Eun-se mentions that Jae-seong plans to meet an old friend, the Mayor of Yuncheon. Byung-mo immediately sees an opportunity. He instructs Eun-se to share the information with Jae-gyeong, knowing she’ll become curious and start digging into Director Song’s disappearance.
That evening, family tensions continue to simmer. During dinner, Jae-gyeong humiliates Seon-hee by telling her not to eat with the rest of the family. The scene is uncomfortable to watch and shows just how isolated Seon-hee has become.
Elsewhere, Jae-seong meets the Mayor of Yuncheon along with Byung-mo. The discussion eventually circles back to Director Song. Once again, Jae-seong insists he knows nothing. Byung-mo advises him to use outside forces to protect their slush fund operation. Unbeknownst to them, Bong-ki is secretly watching. He photographs the meeting and sends the evidence to Yong-ho, whom he now believes is Choiseong’s hidden heir.
Later that night, Yong-ho drives Bang-geul home and unexpectedly asks about Seon-hee. The question catches her off guard. When they arrive, Yong-ho finally sees his wife. I have to admit, this was one of the episode’s most emotional moments. He desperately wants to check on her but can’t reveal who he really is.
Seon-hee doesn’t recognize him. Instead, she apologizes to “Jun-hyeon” for the hit-and-run accident that involved Yong-ho. All he can do is watch and worry. Later, Seon-hee and Bang-geul share takeout food and talk about Yong-ho. After putting her mother to bed, Bang-geul quietly cleans up after the twins and their families.
The next morning, she does something small but meaningful. Instead of preparing a large homemade breakfast for everyone, she orders takeout and gives her exhausted mother a chance to rest.
At the penthouse, Yong-ho and Bong-ki begin examining records connected to Jae-seong’s slush fund companies. Yong-ho asks him to track where the money went and offers additional compensation for working through the weekend. Bong-ki eventually uncovers the financial trail.
As the new week begins, Yong-ho meets Jae-gyeong and the governor’s secretary. The proposal is accepted, but Yong-ho pushes for something bigger: a direct meeting with the governor. His confidence surprises Jae-gyeong. For a moment, she is reminded of her father. Yong-ho asks her to trust him, though she remains suspicious and wonders whether he’s deliberately trying to drive a wedge between her and Jae-seong.
Soon after, his larger plan falls into place. The Mayor of Yuncheon suddenly announces his resignation. A flashback reveals what happened. Using the photos obtained by Bong-ki, Bang-geul pressured the mayor into stepping down.
In the present, the mayor informs Jae-seong that he resigned because he was threatened. Things get worse for Jae-seong when he learns about Jae-gyeong’s competing port proposal. Furious, he storms into a meeting and accuses his sister of stealing his project. Jae-gyeong refuses to back down, arguing that her proposal serves Choiseong’s future growth.
Sung-jae ultimately approves her plan. Jae-seong is left humiliated. While the twins continue fighting, Yong-ho and Bang-geul quietly celebrate their success. However, someone is paying attention. Sung-jae notices the pair together and orders an investigation. His secretary soon discovers that Jun-hyeon has been living in Chairman Kang’s penthouse apartment.
That night, Yong-ho shares another surprise with Bang-geul. He reveals that he pressured Jae-gyeong into approving the return of the property that was taken from her. He explains that the port project will benefit Gangwon and increase the land’s value. Then he tells her he’s transferring the property to her.
Bang-geul can’t help wondering if he’s doing all of this because “Jun-hyeon” has feelings for her. Yong-ho avoids the question. Instead, he secretly arranges a dinner between Bang-geul and Seon-hee. From a distance, he watches his wife and daughter enjoy a meal together.
It’s a quiet moment, but it says a lot about what he truly wants.
The episode closes with a development that could create serious trouble. Yong-ho heads to the garage and takes the chairman’s sports car out for a drive. Unfortunately for him, Jae-gyeong sees everything. Her suspicions about “Jun-hyeon” grow stronger as the episode comes to an end.
Episode Review
Reborn Rookie Episode 4 packs an incredible amount of corporate maneuvering into a single hour. Between slush funds, port projects, investment companies, audits, and boardroom battles, there were moments when I almost forgot this series started with a body-swap fantasy premise.
Still, Yong-ho remains the show’s biggest strength. Watching him move through Choiseong while disguised as a rookie intern is consistently entertaining. His confidence during the drinking contest and his ability to manipulate people into joining his side make him difficult to look away from.
The emotional scenes involving Seon-hee also stand out. Seeing Yong-ho face his wife without being able to reveal himself adds a layer of sadness beneath all the corporate scheming.
The most interesting development, though, may be Jae-gyeong’s growing suspicion. Up until now, Yong-ho has managed to stay several steps ahead of everyone. That advantage could disappear very quickly if Jae-gyeong starts connecting the dots.
Another question hanging over the story is Bang-geul’s growing attachment to “Jun-hyeon.” She sees the person standing in front of her, but the personality she’s responding to belongs to her father. It’s an unusual dynamic that becomes more complicated with every episode.
And now that Jae-gyeong has caught him driving the chairman’s sports car, it feels like Yong-ho’s carefully constructed disguise may finally be facing its biggest challenge yet.
