The Husband Episode 7 picks up right where things left off, with Man-hui ramming his car into Tae-ju’s vehicle to stop them from getting away. What follows is a brutal, messy fight, and Tae-ju takes real damage trying to hold his own against Man-hui.
Se-yun, exhausted and running on fumes, still throws herself into the fight to protect her husband, but her body gives out and she passes out cold. Man-hui is one second away from finishing Tae-ju off for good when, thankfully, the police finally show up.
Man-hui doesn’t stick around to find out what happens next. He bolts into the forest with officers chasing after him, and in the middle of that chase, he does something genuinely horrifying: he beats one of the officers over the head with a stone, over and over.
Police Incompetence Strikes Again, Tae-ju Gets Arrested Instead
Here’s where the episode really starts testing your patience. While Man-hui is off attacking a cop in the woods, the police who stayed behind decide the person to arrest is Tae-ju. An ambulance gets called, sure, but the priorities here are completely backwards.
Man-hui, meanwhile, loops back to the house where Gyeong-ae is still trapped. She tells him to leave her and save himself. He hesitates, there’s clearly something there, but she pushes him to go, only extracting a promise that he’ll come back for her. Right before the police reach the house, she manages to hide her phone under the fridge, a small but telling detail that suggests she’s still playing her own game even while injured.
Back at the first crime scene, paramedics finally get to Se-yun, and the police refuse to update Tae-ju on her condition, which, given everything he’s just been through, feels almost cruel. She does wake up, though, and immediately tells the police about the killer couple, defending Tae-ju in the process. Doesn’t matter. They keep him under arrest anyway “until things are cleared up.”
Gyeong-ae’s Injury Changes Everything
Just as the police are about to leave the scene, word comes in about Gyeong-ae’s condition. Detective Do-sik makes the call to have Tae-ju examine her before the paramedics move her, and that’s when another officer finds prescription medication from Woori Hospital on her.
Turns out Gyeong-ae has a pre-existing spinal condition that her fall just made drastically worse. She’s dealing with what looks like an acute hemorrhage at the injury site, and without surgery, and fast, she’s looking at permanent paralysis.
While all this medical drama is unfolding, Man-hui is busy covering his tracks. He breaks into the computer college’s system remotely and wipes everything clean, then uses a back route to slip past the police roadblock. He tails the ambulances all the way to Woori Hospital, trying to call someone the entire drive, someone who won’t pick up. He hangs around outside, clearly anxious about his wife, before finally driving off.
Back at the house Man-hui and Gyeong-ae shared, police uncover something chilling: scratched-off IDs belonging to multiple women, plus a bloody sledgehammer. It’s the first real physical evidence tying the couple to more victims than we’ve seen so far.
Family Conflict Erupts at Woori Hospital
At the hospital, Dong-chan and his wife are overjoyed to have Se-yun back safe, and the staff treat her for exhaustion, malnutrition, and dehydration. That relief doesn’t last long, though. Dr. Ha tells Dong-chan that the police have also brought in Gyeong-ae, the kidnapper, and Tae-ju.
Dong-chan immediately refuses to let Gyeong-ae be treated at his hospital, demanding she and Tae-ju be taken elsewhere. Tae-ju pushes back hard, explaining how urgent Gyeong-ae’s surgery is and how badly they need to get to the truth of what happened. He finally explains himself: the 3 billion won he took at gunpoint from his in-laws’ house was never theft, it was an attempt to draw out the real culprit. He tells the police to check his car’s trunk for the money.
Se-yun steps in too, begging her father to let the surgery happen. Like Tae-ju, she wants answers just as badly. And in a twist nobody saw coming, with no other surgeon willing to touch the case, Tae-ju is the one who steps up, and the police actually let him do it.
Tae-ju Operates on Gyeong-ae, and Dong-chan Threatens to Interfere
Before he even gets into the operating room, Tae-ju has his own wounds treated, and Dong-chan corners him to remind him that Gyeong-ae is a criminal who, in his eyes, doesn’t deserve saving. Tae-ju doesn’t let it get to him. Dong-chan then drops a not-so-subtle hint that he might interfere with the surgery himself.
Right before cutting her open, Tae-ju plays a little psychological warfare of his own, telling Gyeong-ae flat out that her life is literally in his hands now. Things get tense fast when she starts bleeding heavily mid-surgery, and Tae-ju freezes for a moment, a genuinely tense beat given everything riding on this operation.
Somehow, the surgery succeeds. Gyeong-ae pulls through, much to the visible disappointment of Dong-chan and, apparently, some of the hospital staff too.
Arrested Again, and a New Body Drops
The second the surgery’s done, Detective Do-sik arrests Tae-ju and hauls him in for questioning. It’s relentless. The police can’t find the 3 billion won in his trunk, which only makes them push harder, convinced he’s lying. Tae-ju keeps insisting he’s innocent and that they’re chasing the wrong person entirely.
He’s right, as it turns out. While all this interrogation is happening, Man-hui kills someone else in a fit of rage, proof that the actual threat is still very much out there while the cops are busy grilling the wrong man.
Dr. Ha’s Secret Comes Out
Back at the hospital, Dr. Ha sneaks into Gyeong-ae’s room after noticing the officer guarding her has fallen asleep. He’s just about to kill her when Tae-ju walks in and stops him cold.
It turns out Tae-ju had already pieced together, from her prescription records, that Dr. Ha was Gyeong-ae’s actual doctor. Now the real question is why Dr. Ha wants her dead, and how deep his involvement runs in whatever happened to Se-yun. Tae-ju asks him directly if Dong-chan is the one orchestrating all of this, but Dr. Ha just stays silent.
The Husband Episode 7 Review: When “Dramatic” Tips Over Into Ridiculous
I need to be honest here: this might be the most absurd episode of The Husband yet. And that’s saying something for a show that’s already asked us to swallow a lot.
Let’s start with the obvious. How exactly is a man the police themselves consider dangerous allowed to perform surgery on the very woman who kidnapped his wife? I get that the show wants to put Tae-ju in an impossible moral position, but the mechanics of how we got there just don’t hold up. No hospital review board, no second surgeon available anywhere, nothing. It’s convenient in a way that undercuts the tension instead of building it.
The whole setup of everyone converging at Woori Hospital felt like it was straining for dramatic irony and missed. I don’t think the writers trust the audience enough here. Instead of letting coincidence feel earned, it just feels engineered, like the plot needed these people in the same building, so it made it happen, logic be damned.
Then there’s the jump cut that really threw me: Tae-ju goes from being locked up to suddenly standing in Gyeong-ae’s hospital room, ready to save her life again. What happened in between? How did he get released, or did he escape? The show just skips over it entirely, and that’s the kind of gap that makes a thriller feel sloppy rather than mysterious.
I also can’t get past the timing of the Dr. Ha reveal. If Tae-ju already knew Gyeong-ae was his patient, why sit on that information? Why wait until the exact moment Dr. Ha is standing over her with murderous intent to finally confront him? It would’ve made more sense, and honestly created better tension, if this confrontation had built up over multiple scenes instead of landing all at once.
And don’t even get me started on the police. Their incompetence has become almost a running joke at this point, except I’m not sure the show means it that way. They arrest Tae-ju not once but twice while Man-hui, a man they know is armed, dangerous, and actively fleeing, roams free enough to kill someone else in the same episode. Are they even looking for him? Because from what we’ve seen, it doesn’t feel like it.
That said, the surgery sequence itself worked for me emotionally, even if the setup around it didn’t. Watching Tae-ju wrestle with the ethics of saving someone who destroyed his life, and then actually freezing when things went wrong on the table, gave the episode its one genuinely human moment. It’s just surrounded by so much plot convenience that it’s hard to fully sit with it.
Episode 7 has all the ingredients of a gripping thriller: betrayal, moral conflict, a ticking clock. But the execution keeps getting in its own way, sacrificing believability for shock value at almost every turn.
