Episode 6 of The WONDERfools throws every character into absolute chaos as betrayals come to light, alliances begin shifting, and Chae-ni’s life hangs by a thread. The episode moves at an intense pace from beginning to end, but underneath all the action is a story about guilt, loyalty, and people trying to protect the ones they care about.
The episode opens with Gyeon-un jokingly telling Ro-bin that they should create a church just like Dr Ha’s organization because it would make them rich. But the lighthearted moment disappears quickly once he notices something strange happening outside. He sees Chae-ni being taken away and overhears Un-jeong talking about supernatural powers with someone else. Realizing that something is terribly wrong, Gyeon-un immediately becomes concerned.
Meanwhile, Ro-bin stays completely oblivious to the danger around them and happily cooks food for everyone, expecting another normal gathering with his friends.
Elsewhere, the Church of Eternal Salvation grows even more powerful after Pal-ho performs what appears to be a miracle. In front of stunned followers, he helps a disabled man walk again. The members instantly treat him like a savior and begin donating huge amounts of money to the church. The organization’s influence keeps expanding, and Jun-mo quietly warns Jeon-bok that Dr Ha’s people are deeply involved with the cult and becoming increasingly dangerous.
At the same time, Ho-ran becomes worried about Pal-ho after noticing the worsening condition of his arm. She attempts to confront Dr Ha for answers but is stopped before she can reach him.
Inside Hawondo Lab, Dr Ha prepares Chae-ni for surgery. His true plan is horrifying, he intends to remove her heart. The surgeons sedate her, but Chae-ni regains consciousness in the middle of the procedure and desperately tries to escape. In a clever moment, she finds a packet of coffee nearby, drinks it, and activates her teleportation ability, instantly escaping the laboratory.
Meanwhile, Un-jeong sits alone in his apartment reflecting on the past. Flashbacks reveal how Dr Ha manipulated him by promising information about his missing family and mother. In exchange, Un-jeong was pressured into cooperating with him and helping bring back the so-called Child of Eternity.
Suddenly, Chae-ni teleports directly into Un-jeong’s apartment. Furious and hurt, she accuses him of betraying her trust and asks him to help her destroy Dr Ha and everyone working under him. Another flashback reveals that Un-jeong secretly hid coffee packets inside her jacket before injecting her earlier, giving her a hidden chance to escape.
Chae-ni begs him to help her run away, but before they can properly plan anything, her powers activate unexpectedly and send her right back to Hawondo Lab. Dr Ha immediately knocks her unconscious and places her back onto the operating table.
When she partially wakes up again, Dr Ha manipulates her emotionally. He tells her that Jeon-bok shares responsibility for everything that happened and insists that sacrificing herself would save others and serve a greater purpose.
Back at home, Gyeon-un panics and tries moving his family somewhere safer because he fears they may become targets. However, his wife refuses to believe his warnings. Instead, she tells him to report Chae-ni’s disappearance to the police. Gyeon-un becomes even more shocked after learning that his wife has accepted a massive business order from the Church of Eternal Salvation itself.
The pressure from everything happening around him leaves Gyeon-un emotionally exhausted and frustrated.
At the same time, Ho-ran uses her powers on Chae-ni and psychologically manipulates her into willingly accepting her own sacrifice.
The following morning, Jeon-bok prepares to leave the house. Before leaving, she warmly tells Ro-bin to save food for Chae-ni and make sure she returns home safely, completely unaware of the nightmare unfolding elsewhere.
Not long after, Gyeon-un arrives and reveals the truth about Un-jeong’s betrayal. Ro-bin is devastated and furious, especially because Chae-ni was the only person who ever defended him when they were younger. A touching flashback shows Chae-ni standing up to school bullies on Ro-bin’s behalf, further emphasizing their bond.
Meanwhile, Jeon-bok investigates Nam Sun-gyu’s whereabouts and realizes he has likely been hospitalized. Jun-mo later contacts her and reveals that Sun-gyu is actually being kept inside the Church of Eternal Salvation.
At City Hall, employees quietly react to Un-jeong’s resignation while he packs up his apartment in silence.
Ro-bin soon storms into the apartment and attacks Un-jeong in anger. The two fight while using their supernatural abilities against each other. However, during the battle, Ro-bin gets distracted by a phone call from Gyeon-un, allowing Un-jeong to knock him unconscious.
Moments later, Jeon-bok contacts Un-jeong and urgently asks to meet him.
Elsewhere, Chae-ni asks Dr Ha if her death will genuinely help Un-jeong. When Dr Ha claims her sacrifice supposedly helped reunite him with his mother, Chae-ni finally appears somewhat at peace with the idea.
Later, at Jeon-bok’s home, Un-jeong reads through Chae-ni’s bucket list and reflects on all the simple dreams she still wants to achieve. Jeon-bok apologizes for everything that happened to him at Hawondo Lab and desperately asks where Chae-ni is being held.
Although Un-jeong cannot forgive Jeon-bok for the past, he finally admits the truth, he betrayed Chae-ni only because he desperately wanted answers about his mother. Consumed with guilt, he ultimately decides to save her.
Soon afterward, Ro-bin and Gyeon-un join him. Un-jeong tells Jeon-bok to gather 200 people for a protest while he visits City Hall to ask Seok-u for assistance. He carefully studies the church’s layout and prepares an escape plan.
The trio then officially teams up to infiltrate the Church of Eternal Salvation and rescue Chae-ni.
Meanwhile, Dr Ha conducts another disturbing experiment by using Chae-ni’s DNA to resurrect a dead rat. Elsewhere, Pal-ho, Ho-ran, and Ju-ran discuss the mysterious Child of Eternity and begin suspecting that Dr Ha is hiding important truths from them. Ju-ran even attempts to use her powers on him to force answers out of him, but surprisingly, her abilities do not work against him at all.
Outside the church, a massive protest erupts and creates chaos around the building. While Pal-ho, Ho-ran, and Ju-ran struggle to control the situation, Jun-mo secretly helps Un-jeong, Ro-bin, and Gyeon-un sneak inside.
Jun-mo also reveals an emotional truth, he was one of the orphan children saved because of the fire Un-jeong caused years ago.
Outside, Ho-ran attempts to manipulate the police officers monitoring the protest, but Jeon-bok firmly reminds them that peaceful protesting is a public right.
Inside the laboratory, Un-jeong, Ro-bin, and Gyeon-un quietly eliminate the guards while Dr Ha begins operating on Chae-ni in order to save Nam Sun-gyu.
Chae-ni realizes she is being forced to die so the old man can survive. Refusing to accept her fate, she resists at the exact moment Un-jeong finally arrives.
Using his powers, Un-jeong stops Dr Ha from harming her and protects her from the guards while Ro-bin and Gyeon-un fight nearby.
After fully regaining consciousness, Chae-ni tearfully thanks Un-jeong for saving her. Overwhelmed with guilt, Un-jeong apologizes before suddenly kissing her to raise her heart rate and activate her teleportation powers. He begs her to escape somewhere safe. But just as it seems they may finally succeed, Pal-ho, Ju-ran, and Ho-ran appear and attack the group.
The episode ends with Chae-ni choosing not to run away and instead returning to help her friends fight.
Episode Review
Episode 6 was messy in the best and worst ways possible. The pacing was frantic, almost overwhelming at times, but it also made the entire rescue mission feel urgent and emotionally intense. More importantly, the episode finally brings the core group together as an actual team, which has been one of the most satisfying developments in the series so far.
Un-jeong’s internal conflict was easily the strongest part of the episode. His betrayal hurt, but the writing does a good job explaining how desperation and guilt pushed him into making terrible decisions. Watching him slowly choose Chae-ni over Dr Ha gave the story some much-needed emotional payoff.
The action scenes were entertaining, especially during the church infiltration, but the emotional moments carried more weight than the fights themselves. Ro-bin’s loyalty to Chae-ni and Gyeon-un’s growing fear for his family added strong emotional layers to the chaos.
That said, the romance between Chae-ni and Un-jeong still feels awkward. The kiss felt more sudden than emotional, largely because the actors give off more sibling-like energy rather than romantic chemistry. The moment clearly aimed to be dramatic, but it did not fully land emotionally.
Dr Ha also continues to be genuinely unsettling. The fact that supernatural powers seemingly have no effect on him makes him feel far more dangerous than the other antagonists. With only two episodes remaining, the biggest question now is whether this dysfunctional group can truly stop him, especially when Pal-ho, Ho-ran, and Ju-ran are still trapped under his influence.
