How Man-hui and Gyeong-ae Really Became Partners in Crime
The Husband Episode 10 opens on a flashback that finally answers the question we’ve all had since episode one: how did Man-hui and Gyeong-ae end up together? Turns out they were simple neighbors in the same apartment building, and it was Gyeong-ae who made the first move, walking up to the reclusive Man-hui and sharing her snack with him.
At the time, Gyeong-ae was trying to put her life back together and had just opened a salon down the street. Unfortunately, one of her exes wasn’t ready to let her move on. He showed up demanding money, and when she refused, he beat her. Man-hui stepped in to stop him, and in a moment of pure impulse, he killed the man. Instead of panicking, Gyeong-ae stopped him from calling the police, helped dump the body, gave him a new haircut, and sealed the moment with a kiss. That’s the twisted foundation their entire relationship was built on, and honestly, it explains so much about how quickly they fell into this life of violence together.
Tae-ju and Gyeong-ae’s Tense Standoff
Back in the present, we return to Tae-ju pressing Gyeong-ae on who tipped her off about her disqualification from the clinical trial. Meanwhile, Detective Do-sik is back in Myeong-hui’s office grilling her again, this time zeroing in on why she never disclosed that Gyeong-ae was both her former patient and someone she personally knew. She gets visibly defensive, and it’s clear the walls are closing in.
Do-sik barely has time to push further before he gets word that Man-hui is heading straight for the hospital. He warns Myeong-hui to stay safe and rushes out.
A Chase Through the Streets
Elsewhere, Se-yun manages to break free from Man-hui, and Tae-ju is the one who saves her. With police sirens closing in, Man-hui makes a run for it, and Tae-ju, against Se-yun’s pleas, chases after him. The two end up sprinting through the streets just as police swarm the hospital.
Eventually Man-hui stops running and turns to attack Tae-ju instead. In a chilling confession, he reveals that Tae-ju was the real target all along. Before things can escalate further, Tae-ju throws out a warning of his own: whoever is really in charge tried to have Gyeong-ae killed too. That lands. Man-hui looks genuinely shaken, but with the sirens getting louder, he bolts again.
Dong-chan Comes Clean (Sort Of)
Back at the hospital, Chi-ung rushes to help Se-yun, who’s in the middle of an acute stress episode. Once she’s stable, Tae-ju checks in on her before turning his attention to Dong-chan. This time there’s no more dancing around the truth, Dong-chan admits he knows exactly who Gyeong-ae and Man-hui are, though he insists he had nothing to do with the kidnapping itself.
To be fair, Dong-chan isn’t exactly innocent. He’s the one who used wealthy donors to bankroll his illegal clinical trial in the first place. But when it comes to the kidnapping and the murders, he’s telling the truth about not being involved. The real mastermind, as we learn shortly after, is Myeong-hui, who’s already packing her bags to skip town. She doesn’t make it out in time, though. Man-hui finds her first.
Se-yun Learns the Truth About Her Father’s Trial
The next morning, Tae-ju finally tells Se-yun the real reason he had her investigate her father’s clinical trial. She’s stunned, and immediately heads back to her father’s home office to dig through his records again.
Meanwhile, Do-sik drops a bombshell on Tae-ju: their working theory now points to Myeong-hui as the mastermind behind everything. Tae-ju is floored. She was the very first person he confided in about the illegal trial, and she’s the one who told him not to say anything to Se-yun. At the time, he genuinely believed he was protecting his wife by staying quiet. He had no clue she was hiding something far darker behind that advice.
Once he connects the dots on just how close Myeong-hui and Gyeong-ae actually are, Tae-ju confronts Gyeong-ae directly. She tries to play dumb to shield her friend, but her composure slips a little when she hears that Myeong-hui, the last person seen with Doctor Ha before his death, is now on the run. Tae-ju spells it out for her: the police are closing in on Man-hui, Doctor Ha is dead, and Myeong-hui has vanished. Their whole plan is falling apart in real time. Gyeong-ae tries to stay cool, but you can tell fear is starting to creep in.
Tae-ju and Se-yun’s Emotional Reckoning
That night brings one of the episode’s most raw moments. Tae-ju and Se-yun finally have the honest conversation they’ve needed for ages. He admits why he kept the truth from her, including the fact that he was performing the illegal surgery, under her father’s orders, on the very day their daughter died.
Dong-chan had convinced him back then that staying silent and simply obeying orders was the only way to protect Se-yun, insisting she’d suffer the most if the truth ever came out. Hearing all of this breaks Se-yun. She cries, apologizes, and scolds him in the same breath for carrying this alone for so long. She pulls him into an embrace and begs him not to shut her out again. It’s only after this that he tells her the last piece: he was always the real target.
Chi-ung’s True Colors
Se-yun eventually drifts off to sleep, and that’s when Tae-ju gets a call that pulls him back out into the night. We cut to Man-hui, now driving Myeong-hui’s car, except Myeong-hui is nowhere to be found. At the same time, Tae-ju is driving toward an unknown location of his own.
Man-hui parks and waits. When a man finally arrives, he attacks him from behind, fully intent on strangling him for ordering the hit on Gyeong-ae. The man on the receiving end? Chi-ung. Our suspicions were right, he’s tangled up in this, and he might just be the one calling the shots the entire time.
The Episode Review: A Solid Twist Buried Under Sloppy Execution
We’re finally getting real forward motion here, and the reasoning behind Se-yun’s kidnapping is starting to click into place. The plan was always to use her as leverage to force Tae-ju’s hand and get him to operate on Gyeong-ae. Obviously, that plan spiraled out of control, and the body count has been the price of it going sideways.
I have to give the writers credit for one thing: using Myeong-hui as a decoy to pull attention away from Chi-ung was a genuinely clever misdirect, even if something always felt slightly off about him. His crush on Se-yun turns out to be the real engine behind his scheme, a jealousy-driven plot to eliminate his romantic rival dressed up as something far more sinister. It’s a diabolical move, and I’ll admit my jaw dropped a little at just how petty and calculated it turns out to be. He clearly didn’t anticipate Tae-ju fighting back this hard, though.
That said, I can’t ignore the elephant in the room: the police in this show are almost comically inept, and the characters have survival instincts that stretch believability past its limit. If the writing had been tighter, this drama had every ingredient to be a massive hit. The cast is doing everything they possibly can with what they’ve been given, and it honestly feels like a bit of a waste watching performers like Namkoong Min, Lee Seol, Kim Dae-myung, and Lee Sang-hee try to elevate material that keeps letting them down. Even a seasoned veteran like Jang Gwang, playing the corrupt and frustrating father-in-law, feels underused here. These actors are carrying a script that just isn’t holding up its end of the bargain.
