Spooky in Love Episode 7 picks up right where things left off, with Yeo-ri thanking Gang-uk for helping her dodge an engagement to Min-hwan that her family had been quietly steering her toward. It’s genuinely funny watching two competent adults completely fumble the “how did you meet” story. At the gallery, the Korean Heritage Service arrives to excavate the casket buried beneath the camellia tree. Director Hwa-young is floored to discover Hwagyeongdang’s remains inside. In a quietly moving beat, her soul finally reunites with Dowon’s, and Yeo-ri says her goodbyes to them both.
The remains are officially declared a significant piece of Korean heritage, and an elated Hwa-young decides to bury Hwagyeongdang alongside Prince Gangpyeong. That’s when Gang-uk and Yeo-ri tell her the truth behind the poem Hwagyeongdang wrote for Dowon, and Hwa-young immediately pushes back, refusing to accept that her ancestor, Prince Gangpyeong, could have done something evil. Yeo-ri asks her to really sit with his actions, while Gang-uk urges her to let Hwagyeongdang’s remains go. Yeo-ri ultimately leaves the choice in Hwa-young’s hands and walks away, which felt like the right call, this isn’t Yeo-ri’s history to rewrite for someone else.
Privately, Gang-uk has a realization that hit me harder than I expected: these cases matter so much to Yeo-ri because she’s the only bridge these spirits have back to the human world. He praises her for chasing justice on their behalf, and starts wondering, out loud, how she ended up with this ability twelve years ago in the first place. That question is clearly going to matter a lot going forward.
Everyone’s Suspicious of the Fake Relationship
The next day, Chairwoman Baek looks into Gang-uk’s background and specifically asks her secretary to investigate his heart surgery, a detail that feels like it’s being planted for a reason. Meanwhile, Pil-dong and Hyeong-min grill a drinking Gang-uk about the timeline of his relationship with Yeo-ri, while Yeo-ri’s own staff, Ji-wook and Ji-soo, press her with the same skepticism. Both leads lie to their respective coworkers to keep the story airtight.
Things get chaotic when Pil-dong calls Yeo-ri from Gang-uk’s phone, asking her to come pick up her drunk “boyfriend.” She can’t find his key and ends up climbing over the wall, right into Gang-uk’s grandmother, Madam Paeng, who is stunned to learn Yeo-ri is dating her grandson. Madam Paeng immediately asks for Yeo-ri’s birth year so she can check compatibility, which is such a specific, grandmother thing to do that it made me laugh out loud.
Gang-uk wakes up just in time to stop Yeo-ri from answering and takes her outside to talk. He admits that literally nobody believes their relationship is real, and suggests they start gathering “evidence” to sell the story better.

Ji-wook calls Yeo-ri back to Reina with urgent news: the painting audit is complete, and 40% of the pieces purchased from Cheon Gallery are priced well above what the artists themselves charge. A New Case: The Florist With a Deadly Secret
Back at Reina, Yeo-ri inspects the artwork and notices something off about the flower arrangements from Designer Sio Atelier, they don’t match his usual style. A flashback from three weeks prior shows Si-o mentioning he was heading abroad for a short trip. When Yeo-ri tries calling him about the mismatched designs, she sees his spirit standing inside his own atelier while she’s on the phone with him.
The full picture comes into focus through another flashback: Si-o’s twin brother had been impersonating him to con people, and when Si-o refused to lend him one billion won, the confrontation turned deadly, his brother killed him, accidentally, and took over his identity at the atelier.

Why Episode 7 Might Be the Show’s Turning Point
Watching this episode, I found myself far more invested in the show’s side characters than I expected to be, specifically Min-hwan. I’m rooting for Gang-uk and Yeo-ri, don’t get me wrong, but I can’t stop thinking about how long Min-hwan has apparently been quietly protecting Yeo-ri. He doesn’t just know about her ability to see spirits, he’s been actively shielding that secret for years, arranging favors and calling in connections just to keep her safe. That’s not the behavior of a simple jilted suitor.
The flashback showing Min-hwan planning to propose to Yeo-ri at the exact moment he learned his brother Ji-hwan intended to do the same thing? That one didn’t sit right with me at all. It’s the kind of detail a drama plants for a reason, and I can’t shake the suspicion that it’s setting up something darker, did Min-hwan have something to do with what happened to Ji-hwan, maybe to stop Yeo-ri from marrying someone else? I really hope I’m wrong. As written so far, Min-hwan brings a genuinely protective, almost tragic energy to this love triangle, and I’d hate for that to curdle into something villainous.
Ha-ri, on the other hand, is proving to be an absolute menace, and I mean that as a compliment to the writing, she’s infuriating in exactly the way she’s supposed to be. I want her to back off Yeo-ri, and I don’t think she will.
The Si-o twin-brother case is a solid new mystery to layer on top of everything else, and I loved the small but telling detail of Gang-uk walking out of a hearing to go help Yeo-ri. It’s a quiet demonstration of where his priorities actually sit. We’re also getting real forward motion on the show’s central mystery, what happened to Yeo-ri twelve years ago — through Gang-uk’s growing determination to figure it out, possibly even reverse it. And that scene with Madam Paeng? Genuinely funny. Watching Gang-uk scramble to stop Yeo-ri from revealing her birth year, fully aware of how superstitious his grandmother is, was one of the lightest, most human moments in an episode otherwise loaded with family scheming and spirit business.
Episode 7 balances its plates well, the fake dating tension, the corporate sabotage subplot, the ghost-of-the-week case, and the slow-burn mystery of Yeo-ri’s past all get real room to breathe. If the back half of the season keeps this pace, Spooky in Love might be building toward something genuinely special.
