Spooky in Love Episode 2 wastes no time ramping up the tension, mixing a murder investigation with a slow-burn romance that’s about to get a lot more complicated. If you’re catching up on this K-drama, here’s everything that happened, and what it means for Gang-uk, Yeo-ri, and the tangled mess Seung-jae left behind.
Gang-uk Confronts Yeo-ri About Her “Ghost” Tip
The episode picks up right where things left off, with Gang-uk barging into Yeo-ri’s office and grabbing her hand just in time to stop her from falling. Yeo-ri, ever cautious about her bare hand, immediately pulls back and avoids any further skin contact with him. It’s a small moment, but it tells you everything about how careful she has to be around people.
Gang-uk isn’t there for pleasantries, though. He wants answers about the Haedam Reservoir case and demands to know how she knew exactly where the body was hidden. Yeo-ri initially deflects, saying she “learned it from someone,” but when Gang-uk keeps pushing, she finally admits the truth: a ghost told her. Unsurprisingly, he doesn’t buy it for a second, and Yeo-ri, fed up with the interrogation, kicks him out of her office.
As she opens the door to see him off, Gang-uk doubles down, accusing her outright of lying about the whole ghost story, right as her grandmother, Chairwoman Baek, walks in. Gang-uk makes his exit, and on his way out runs into Seung-jae in the lobby. Seung-jae can’t resist mocking him, but Gang-uk isn’t rattled. He promises, with total confidence, that he’ll find Eun-ju’s body and prove Seung-jae’s guilt.
Chairwoman Baek’s Business Pressure and Gang-uk’s Orphanage Detour
Back in her office, Chairwoman Baek brings up the gossip swirling around Yeo-ri and gently urges her granddaughter to keep her distance from it. The conversation shifts to business, where Yeo-ri makes it clear she has zero interest in partnering with a big-name brand just to expand for expansion’s sake. Chairwoman Baek isn’t ready to drop it, though, and pushes her to reconsider.
Meanwhile, in one of the episode’s lighter detours, Gang-uk’s grandmother essentially guilt-trips him into volunteering at an orphanage. He spends the day playing football with the kids, and, naturally, someone breaks a window in the process. But it’s while retrieving the stray ball that Gang-uk has a sudden realization. He rushes back to the office and asks his colleagues, Pil-dong and Hyung-min, to pull together a list of every guest who stayed at the hotel where Eun-ju was last seen alive.
Yeo-ri Drops a Bombshell on Seung-jae
Elsewhere, Ha-ri and Seung-jae are spending time with Gye-hee and Dong-jun when Ha-ri mentions that Yeo-ri opposes their upcoming marriage. That’s all it takes for Seung-jae to storm off and confront Yeo-ri directly, accusing her of trying to defame him. Yeo-ri doesn’t back down. Instead, she reveals that she met Eun-ju before her death and learned that Eun-ju was pregnant.
Seung-jae denies everything, of course, but Yeo-ri isn’t finished, she warns him that Eun-ju’s spirit is still around, watching. And she’s not exaggerating: Eun-ju’s ghost has apparently been staying in Yeo-ri’s cabin this entire time.
The Investigation Breaks Open: Gang-uk Traces the Cover-Up
This is where the episode really picks up steam. Gang-uk discovers that the air hostess who booked the room next to Eun-ju’s is actually a friend of Seung-jae’s. When he tracks her down, he learns she left her wallet with Seung-jae, a detail that ends up cracking the whole case open.
After digging through the hotel records, Gang-uk pieces together exactly what happened: Seung-jae disguised himself as the air hostess, used that disguise to get into the adjoining room, climbed across the balcony into Eun-ju’s room, and physically removed her body. Reviewing the CCTV footage a second time, he notices Seung-jae was hiding something inside his suitcase and clocks a suspicious 35-minute gap after Seung-jae entered the elevator. Putting it together, Gang-uk concludes that Seung-jae must have hidden the body inside one of the hotel’s water tanks on the terrace.
When he gets there to check, he’s stunned to find Yeo-ri already searching the same spot. The two argue, but Gang-uk goes ahead and opens the tank anyway, and there she is. Eun-ju’s body, finally found.
A flashback fills in the missing pieces of that night: Eun-ju tells Seung-jae she’s pregnant with his child. He panics and shoves her away. She hits her head on the bed frame and loses consciousness. Rather than help her, Seung-jae flees, leaving her to die alone.
Seung-jae’s Arrest and His Father’s Damage Control
Cut to the present, and Gang-uk brings the police straight to the golf course, where Seung-jae is in the middle of accepting a championship trophy, about as public and humiliating a moment as it gets. He’s arrested on the spot for Eun-ju’s murder. Ha-ri, furious to learn Yeo-ri played a role in exposing him, confronts her right in the hotel lobby, visibly upsetting Chairwoman Baek in the process.
Not long after, Chairwoman Baek circles back to business, this time pushing Yeo-ri to meet with the CEO of CL Raymond, who’s apparently eager to collaborate with her.
Down at the police station, Seung-jae learns his father, Minister Park Jin-dong, is cutting him loose entirely now that the scandal has gone public. Seung-jae, cornered, threatens to expose his father’s illegal business dealings in retaliation. Minister Park doesn’t flinch, he releases a false statement claiming Eun-ju was mentally unstable and fabricated the pregnancy just to damage Seung-jae and the family’s reputation. It’s a cold, calculated move, and it sets up some serious tension for later episodes.
A Wedding, a Mix-Up, and an Awkward Morning After
At the prosecutor’s office, Gang-uk gets a call inviting him to a friend’s wedding on Jeju Island. Pil-dong also asks him to meet with Grandma Chum-hui, who’s been trying to get in touch with the prosecutors. Gang-uk heads off to the wedding, which happens to be at CL Raymond Hotel, the same hotel Yeo-ri is visiting to meet CEO Kang Min-hwan, who turns out to be an old friend of hers.
Min-hwan brings up the collaboration again, but Yeo-ri still isn’t interested. He convinces her to stay the night anyway and shows off designer Jung Hae-na’s latest collection, one piece of which Yeo-ri genuinely likes. Meanwhile, Gang-uk’s friend offers to let him stay in the Royal Suite for the wedding.
Here’s where the episode delivers its funniest and most consequential twist: the hotel accidentally books both Gang-uk and Yeo-ri into the same Royal Suite. Each of them assumes the odd presence in the room is just a ghost and shrugs it off. Yeo-ri pops in her noise-cancelling earphones and falls asleep, completely unaware. Later, a drunk Gang-uk stumbles in and climbs into bed right next to her.
They wake up the next morning lying beside each other, both absolutely mortified. Hotel staff scramble to apologize for the booking error, and Min-hwan, embarrassed, tells them to resign on the spot. Yeo-ri, panicking at the thought that she may have accidentally touched Gang-uk’s skin, tries to talk to him about it, but he gets defensive and insists nothing happened.
As they’re leaving, Gang-uk once again saves Yeo-ri from a fall, this time on an escalator, after a stray suitcase nearly trips her up. Min-hwan checks in on her, praises Gang-uk for the save, and hands him a complimentary hotel voucher along with his business card. Yeo-ri thanks him for catching her.
A New Mystery Begins: Grandma Chum-hui’s Missing Granddaughter
On his way out, Gang-uk runs into Grandma Chum-hui, who’s been desperately searching for her granddaughter, Da-mi. He learns Da-mi was last seen at CL Raymond Hotel, where she’d been working alongside designer Jung Hae-na.
With Min-hwan’s help, Gang-uk pulls the CCTV footage and traces the taxi Da-mi took, eventually tracking down her drop-off location. In the process of reviewing the footage, he stumbles onto something else entirely: Hae-na stole one of Da-mi’s original designs and passed it off as her own work.
Gang-uk’s search leads him to the cliff where Da-mi was last seen, and he’s shocked to find Yeo-ri already there. She tells him to leave, but loses her footing and slips. Gang-uk reaches out to grab her, only for both of them to fall into the sea together. He manages to pull her to safety, but as they surface, they’re horrified to discover Da-mi’s dead body floating in the water beside them. And that’s exactly where the episode leaves us.
Episode 2 Review: Ghosts, Chaos, and a Love Triangle in the Making
This was a genuinely fun episode, and I’m fairly convinced Gang-uk is about to start seeing ghosts himself after accidentally sleeping next to Yeo-ri and (presumably) making skin contact with her. He’s already terrified of ghosts based on what we saw in the premiere, so watching a guy who’s phobic of the supernatural suddenly forced to interact with actual spirits sounds like a fantastic setup for both comedy and character growth as the show moves forward.
Min-hwan is shaping up to be the second lead here, and on paper, he’s the more “sensible” match for Yeo-ri, they come from similarly affluent backgrounds, and there’s an obvious ease between them. But I have to admit, one loose thread caught my attention: Yeo-ri mentions someone named Ji-hwan while talking to Min-hwan, and it’s never explained who that is. My guess is Ji-hwan was a past love interest of Yeo-ri’s, and given the show’s supernatural bent, there’s a real chance he’s no longer alive. That’s speculation on my part, but the way the name was dropped felt deliberate, like it’s being set up as a mystery for later.
What I appreciate most about this episode is how it balances two very different tones without either one feeling out of place. The murder investigation into Eun-ju’s death is genuinely well-constructed, Gang-uk’s detective work with the CCTV footage, the disguise reveal, the water tank discovery, it all clicks together in a satisfying way that doesn’t feel rushed. And then you’ve got the Royal Suite mix-up, which is pure romantic-comedy chaos, and somehow it doesn’t clash with the darker murder plot happening in the same episode.
Both male leads, Gang-uk and Min-hwan, bring a certain chaotic energy to their scenes, and paired with Yeo-ri’s own chaos, being a woman who sees and speaks to ghosts will do that to you, this love triangle has a lot of potential. Yeo-ri might be the “perfect” match for Min-hwan when you look at their family backgrounds and social standing, but I’d argue she’s better suited for Gang-uk. He’s a man who solves murders for a living, and she’s a woman who talks to the dead. There’s an obvious, almost poetic overlap in what they do that Min-hwan just can’t compete with.
The discovery of Da-mi’s body at the very end is a strong cliffhanger, and it immediately opens up a second mystery just as the first one wraps up. I’m curious to see how Hae-na’s design theft ties into all of this, and whether Da-mi’s death connects back to the same web of secrets swirling around CL Raymond Hotel. Two episodes in, and Spooky in Love is proving it can juggle mystery, romance, and comedy without dropping the ball on any of them.
