The WONDERfools Episode 3 opens with a mysterious man named Nam Sun-gyu visiting Dr. Ha Won-do in prison. Sun-gyu immediately brings up the “Child of Eternity” and informs Dr. Ha that Un-jeong has returned to Haeseong. That news alone is enough to change everything. Sun-gyu even helps Dr. Ha escape prison, making it clear that the scientist is far from finished with whatever twisted project he started years ago.
Back in the present timeline, Chae-ni somehow survives the terrifying boat incident from Episode 2 and suddenly appears in front of Un-jeong. The problem is that Un-jeong reacts badly. Instead of relief, he instinctively shoves her away with incredible force, proving once again that his powers are far more dangerous than he wants people to know.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ha’s loyal followers, Seok Ju-ran, Seok Ho-ran, and Kim Pal-ho, discuss Un-jeong’s return. Their conversation reveals old jealousy and tension within the group, especially Pal-ho’s resentment toward Un-jeong. Dr. Ha then orders them to capture Chae-ni before she evolves into a bigger threat. Apparently, she is now considered a “new variant,” which only raises more questions about the experiments tied to the mysterious lab.
Elsewhere, Gyeon-un leaves an unconscious Chae-ni at Ro-bin’s house. Once she wakes up, she finally admits that she can teleport. Ro-bin is understandably stunned, but the episode barely gives him time to process it before more chaos begins.
At home, Gyeon-un gets scolded by his wife, Mi-hui, for messing up his flower deliveries. In a hilarious but concerning moment, his hands suddenly stick to a flower pot. Soon after, his feet become glued to the floor as well. It turns out his strange power involves sticking to random objects, and he is deeply embarrassed about it.
Chae-ni becomes convinced that all of them have gained supernatural abilities. She and Ro-bin try convincing Gyeon-un to work together, but he wants nothing to do with any of this. Still, he eventually reveals the shocking truth that Un-jeong tried to kill Chae-ni at the warehouse.
The next day, Chae-ni tracks Un-jeong down at City Hall and desperately tries to speak with him privately. Unfortunately, the employees at the Civil Complaints office are far too interested in their argument. The situation quickly becomes awkward enough that Un-jeong asks his superior, Seok-u, to help him escape.
At the same time, a foul smell complaint from Haedeul gives Un-jeong the perfect excuse to leave. Chae-ni refuses to let him get away so easily and sends Gyeon-un after him.
Meanwhile, another storyline begins exposing the horrifying truth behind Director Choi’s death. The police ask Jeon-bok to identify his body and hand over his suicide note, which strangely insists that Dr. Ha is innocent.
A flashback reveals what actually happened. Director Choi forced Dr. Ha to reveal information about the Child of Eternity, while Ju-ran used her abilities to manipulate him. After learning about Jeon-bok’s restaurant, Hearty House, Ju-ran forces Director Choi to stab himself with a pen. The “suicide” was clearly murder disguised as guilt.
The episode also dives deeper into Dr. Ha’s traumatic memories. He dreams about the fire at Hawondo Lab years earlier, the same incident that exposed his illegal experiments on children. He remembers the children escaping while authorities arrested him. That single flashback confirms that the lab tragedy remains the center of everything happening now.
Later, two police officers, Park Seung-ryeol and Gyeong-hwan, investigate the Church of Eternal Salvation after receiving a missing persons report connected to Sang-moo. Ju-ran calmly gives them a tour while secretly hiding the horrifying truth in the basement. Even though Bong-pal and Sang-moo scream for help, Ju-ran uses her powers to prevent the officers from hearing anything.
The tension explodes once Chae-ni, Gyeon-un, and Ro-bin force Un-jeong into their car and demand answers about their powers. Before Un-jeong can explain much, the same police officers suddenly drive past them. Then things become horrifying.
Gyeong-hwan’s face literally begins melting while he is driving.
The car crashes instantly, and the group rushes to help. Seung-ryeol is rescued quickly, but Gyeong-hwan’s body has somehow turned rubbery and boneless. Chae-ni begs Un-jeong to help, and after hesitating, he finally uses his powers to lift the vehicle.
The rescue sequence somehow balances comedy, panic, and action all at once. Gyeon-un accidentally sticks himself to the burning car while trying to stop the fire. Chae-ni teleports away to grab a sickle to cut him free, but before she returns, Ro-bin discovers he possesses incredible super strength and pulls Gyeon-un away seconds before the car explodes.
It is the first moment where the group truly starts functioning like a team.
Afterward, Chae-ni excitedly declares that the four of them are now officially a squad. Un-jeong immediately rejects the idea, refusing to associate himself with them. Still, the chemistry between the group is finally starting to form naturally.
At the same time, Un-jeong starts connecting the dots surrounding the bizarre incidents in Haeseong. He eventually concludes that the Church of Eternal Salvation is involved somehow, which puts him directly on a collision course with Dr. Ha.
Meanwhile, Chae-ni, Ro-bin, and Gyeon-un attempt to report the accident properly, only to realize someone is actively covering up the truth. That discovery makes it obvious that powerful people are controlling events behind the scenes.
Later, Pal-ho confronts Un-jeong at City Hall and questions why he returned to Haeseong. Their confrontation reveals more bitterness tied to Dr. Ha and the so-called “variants.” Un-jeong openly mocks Pal-ho for calling Dr. Ha “Father” and accuses the scientist of exploiting defective subjects for his own gain. The anger in this scene makes it feel like Un-jeong knows far more about the experiments than he admits.
Eventually, Chae-ni corners Un-jeong again and asks him to guide her, Ro-bin, and Gyeon-un while helping them understand their abilities. For the first time, Un-jeong mentions the term “Wunderkinder,” though he refuses to fully explain what it means.
One small but fascinating moment happens when a coworker suddenly appears and Un-jeong instantly uses his powers to hide Chae-ni from sight. It is another reminder that his abilities may be much more advanced than the others’.
Un-jeong finally opens up slightly and reveals that he also experienced a near-death moment before gaining powers. He tells Chae-ni she no longer has to fear death, which feels oddly comforting coming from someone so emotionally distant.
But the peace does not last long.
Un-jeong notices Pal-ho secretly following Chae-ni and rushes in just before an attack happens. That moment finally pushes him to make a decision. Rather than keeping his distance, he chooses to keep Chae-ni close and offers her a temporary volunteer position at City Hall.
Chae-ni is absolutely thrilled by the opportunity and immediately calls Jeon-bok with the good news. The happiness of that moment, however, disappears instantly in the final scene.
When Jeon-bok returns to Hearty House, Dr. Ha is already waiting for her. And honestly, that final reveal feels terrifying.
Episode 3 Review
Episode 3 feels like the point where The WONDERfools fully embraces its identity. The show is no longer just quirky or mysterious, it is chaotic in the best possible way. One moment there is slapstick comedy involving sticky flower pots, and the next there are body horror scenes involving melting skin and cult cover-ups.
What makes the episode work surprisingly well is the growing chemistry between Chae-ni, Ro-bin, and Gyeon-un. Their powers are weirdly random, but the awkward teamwork gives the series a fun emotional core. Ro-bin discovering his super strength during the rescue scene was especially satisfying because it happened naturally instead of feeling forced.
At the same time, the drama continues dropping hints that the past experiments at Hawondo Lab are much darker than anyone realizes. I still do not fully trust Jeon-bok either. The show keeps implying that she knows more about Chae-ni’s origins than she admits. There is a growing possibility that Chae-ni was one of the children connected to the lab experiments all along.
Un-jeong also remains incredibly suspicious. He clearly carries guilt tied to the lab fire, and his hatred toward Dr. Ha feels deeply personal. Yet despite acting cold and detached, he keeps protecting Chae-ni whenever she is in danger. The show is slowly revealing his softer side while still keeping his true motives hidden.
Most importantly, Episode 3 finally makes the central group feel believable as future heroes, even if they are still a complete disaster right now.
