Sarkar 3 (2017) Plot Synopsis
The story begins with Gandhi, a businessman who approaches Sarkar (Amitabh Bachchan) seeking support for a massive real-estate project. Gandhi wants to develop a large slum area and sees Sarkar’s influence as the key to making the project happen.
After hearing the proposal, Sarkar advises Gandhi to handle the matter fairly. He suggests offering proper compensation to the residents and relocating them to suitable housing before moving forward with construction.
Gandhi immediately objects. From his perspective, the compensation package Sarkar proposes is far too expensive. Instead, he wants to spend less money and push the project through with minimal costs. Sarkar refuses to support the plan under those conditions.
The discussion quickly turns tense. Gandhi insists that if Sarkar won’t help him, he’ll find someone else with enough power to get the job done. Sarkar responds with a warning, making it clear that he will not allow Gandhi to proceed so easily.
Frustrated, Gandhi contacts his powerful boss in Dubai, Vallya (Jackie Shroff), and informs him about the situation.
To strengthen their position, Gandhi and Vallya form an alliance with Govind Deshpande (Manoj Bajpayee), an opposition leader who has his own ambitions and would love nothing more than to remove Sarkar from power.
Meanwhile, Sarkar’s wife asks him to allow their grandson, Shivaji “Chiku” Nagre (Amit Sadh), to work alongside him.
Sarkar is hesitant.
Chiku reminds him too much of his father, Vishnu, a man known for his volatile personality and reckless behavior. Sarkar worries that Chiku possesses the same dangerous combination of stubbornness and emotional instability. Despite his doubts, he eventually agrees to let Chiku join him.
It doesn’t take long for trouble to start.
Chiku frequently clashes with Gokul (Ronit Roy), Sarkar’s loyal right-hand man. The two disagree on almost everything, especially when it comes to handling political enemies such as Deshpande.
However, Chiku’s actions aren’t driven solely by political ambition.
His girlfriend, Anu (Yami Gautam), has her own agenda. She is secretly using Chiku as a way to get closer to Sarkar. Anu blames Sarkar for the death of her father, believing that Sarkar was responsible for ordering his elimination. Her relationship with Chiku becomes part of a larger revenge plan.
At the same time, Gandhi starts manipulating Gokul.
He plants doubts in Gokul’s mind, suggesting that if Chiku eventually becomes the next Sarkar, Gokul will forever remain a servant while Chiku inherits all the power. The strategy is designed to create cracks within Sarkar’s inner circle.
As political tensions continue to rise, Deshpande, Gandhi, and Vallya begin working together on another scheme. They attempt to provoke factory workers and encourage them to turn against Sarkar.
While this is happening, Chiku becomes involved in efforts to strike back against Deshpande.
Sarkar watches everything carefully. He knows someone is pulling strings behind the scenes and tries to identify the true mastermind behind the growing chaos.
Eventually, Deshpande is chased down and brutally murdered.
Given Sarkar’s reputation and influence, suspicion immediately falls on him. Many people assume he ordered the killing. Sarkar, however, realizes that the murder appears too convenient and too perfectly timed. Whoever orchestrated it had planned every detail in advance.
The situation becomes even more dangerous during Ganpati Visarjan, when an assassin opens fire on Sarkar.
The attack confirms one thing: someone inside Sarkar’s trusted circle has been compromised.
Not long afterward, Chiku presents Sarkar with video evidence showing secret meetings between Gandhi and Gokul.
Gokul fights back with accusations of his own. He tells Sarkar that Chiku is being manipulated by Anu, who is still pursuing revenge for her father’s death.
Faced with conflicting stories and growing distrust, Sarkar decides to expel Chiku from his circle.
After being cast out, Chiku joins forces with Gandhi. The alliance appears genuine, but the political game is becoming more complicated with every move.
Vallya then orders additional actions aimed at destabilizing Sarkar’s influence. Gokul reports that both Gandhi and Chiku are behind the efforts targeting Sarkar’s factories and interests.
As events continue to unfold, tragedy strikes Sarkar personally when his wife passes away. The loss leaves a significant emotional impact on him. Believing Chiku has become a serious threat, Gokul urges Sarkar to authorize his assassination.
Soon after, an attempt is made on Chiku’s life. Gunmen attack him, but he manages to escape before they can finish the job. Determined to eliminate him, Gokul begins actively hunting him down.
Before Gokul can succeed, however, the tables suddenly turn. Gokul is shot and killed. With another major player removed from the board, the balance of power shifts once again. Soon afterward, Vallya travels to India and meets Sarkar face-to-face.
During their conversation, Vallya argues that Chiku lacks the experience and intelligence required to become the next Sarkar. According to him, Chiku is ultimately useless. He even offers to help Sarkar eliminate his own grandson.
That’s when Sarkar finally reveals the truth. Everything is not what it seems.
Sarkar explains that Chiku’s apparent betrayal was actually part of a plan. Chiku had been sent to infiltrate Gandhi’s operation on Sarkar’s orders. His involvement with Gandhi was never genuine; it was a carefully constructed mission designed to gather information and expose hidden enemies.
Sarkar also reveals that the situation involving Anu has already been resolved. The conflicts that once threatened to divide them have been settled, and she has come to trust Sarkar’s side.
The bigger surprise involves Gokul.
According to Sarkar, once Gokul began working with Gandhi in matters involving labor unrest and slum redevelopment, he gradually pushed Chiku aside and started positioning himself as the future Sarkar.
Sarkar allowed events to play out because he had a larger objective. His goal was to draw Vallya out into the open. The entire operation functioned as a trap designed to force Vallya to leave the safety of Dubai and expose himself.
The final stage of the plan unfolds rapidly.
Having switched sides and aligned herself with Sarkar, Anu shoots Gandhi dead. At the same time, Chiku enters the room where Sarkar and Vallya are meeting. Moments later, gunshots ring out. When the smoke clears, Vallya is dead.
With their most dangerous enemy finally eliminated, peace briefly returns.
The film ends on a quieter note.
Chiku and Sarkar sit together, sharing a cup of tea. Rather than discussing violence or revenge, Sarkar begins teaching his grandson valuable lessons about politics, power, and leadership.
The moment suggests that the future of the Sarkar legacy may ultimately rest in Chiku’s hands, but only after he fully understands the complicated world his grandfather spent years building.
