Lee Jun-hyuk’s newly promoted team leader closes a bigger deal than anyone expected, refuses to give up his team’s brands, and then gets a phone call warning him that his newest team member might be a walking time bomb. How Jun-ho Ended Up Under Eun-tae
The Ordinary Jackpot Episode 3 opens with a flashback to the day Eun-tae was promoted to team leader. Department Head Park Hyun-sook calls Jun-ho into her office and tells him he’s moving to Team 5 to work under Eun-tae. Her reasoning is simple: she thinks the two of them work well together.
A Team That Shows Up Early
Back in the present, Eun-tae walks into the office and is caught off guard. Everyone on his team has already arrived, and when he starts handing out instructions, he realizes Jun-ho has already assigned the important tasks. That can only mean one thing to Eun-tae: his earlier telling-off actually worked.
Not long after, Deputy Director Jang notices Jun-ho and Eun-tae preparing for their meeting with Laknes. His advice is blunt. Get the contract signed and don’t burn too much time on it.
What the Gossip in Team 2 Reveals
In a smaller but important scene, an employee from Team 2 named Joo-hee chats with a colleague. Their conversation lays out the office politics clearly: Team 5 is expected to hand its brands over to Teams 1 and 2, because the managers of those teams are in line for promotions. So Team 5 isn’t just working hard. It’s working on borrowed time.
The Laknes Meeting: Going Beyond the Bare Minimum
Eun-tae and Jun-ho welcome Kim Hyeong-chan and Sakamoto from the Laknes team. The episode cuts between quick flashbacks of how Team 5 prepared and the live conversation between the four men, which keeps the meeting moving at a good clip.
Here’s the heart of it. Eun-tae tells the Laknes side that everyone assumed Team 5 would close the deal at a basic level and call it a day. He and Jun-ho have other plans, and they want to take Laknes well past the minimum. By the end of the conversation, they’ve convinced the Laknes leaders to raise their margin by 5% and add incentives for store staff. I’ll admit I didn’t expect them to pull that off so cleanly.
Department Head Park Gives Eun-tae Her Card, Then He Drops a Bombshell
Eun-tae brings the results to Department Head Park, and she’s clearly pleased. She hands him her card so Team 5 can celebrate the win. Then she asks about the brand reorganization, and Eun-tae doesn’t hesitate. He wants to keep all the brands. All Team 5 needs is one more employee, and they can manage everything.
Deputy Director Jang is stunned. A quick flashback shows us Eun-tae telling Jun-ho the same thing over dinner in the previous episode, so this wasn’t a spur-of-the-moment move. He’d planned it.
Park Calls Out the Team Leaders
The department head then calls all the team leaders into a meeting and asks Eun-tae to explain himself. His answer is straightforward: he wants his team to keep the brand it has already worked on.
Park doesn’t stop there. She scolds the other team leaders for chasing numbers and promotions rather than doing good work. She even tells Jung Seon-hyeok off for getting complacent just because he isn’t up for a promotion. Before the meeting ends, she orders Deputy Director Jang to send Jang Hyang-eun, an employee returning from China, to Team 5.
Deputy Director Jang Asks Eun-tae Why
After the meeting, Jang asks Eun-tae to stay behind and demands to know why he’s acting out. Eun-tae’s answer surprised me in a good way. He reminds Jang that Jang was once a great team leader to his own juniors, and that Jang was the youngest team leader too, just like Eun-tae now. All Eun-tae wants is to do right by his juniors the way Jang once did.
The two head downstairs, where Jun-ho, Gi-tae, and Ji-hye are waiting. Jang gives them his card as well and tells them to use it for round two of the team dinner.
Jung Seon-hyeok Isn’t Smiling
Elsewhere, Jung Seon-hyeok replays what Department Head Park said to him. His face says everything. He doesn’t look happy at all.
The Team Dinner: What Does Eun-tae Believe In?
At the dinner, Eun-tae admits he doesn’t trust people enough to let their compliments or insults get to him. Jun-ho asks the obvious follow-up: what does he believe in, then? Eun-tae’s answer is his past, and the way he’s lived his life.
A Warning About Jang Hyang-eun
Just when things settle, Eun-tae gets a call from Hae-joo. She warns him about Team 5’s incoming member, Jang Hyang-eun. According to her, the China branch is about to blow up over a corruption scandal, and Hyang-eun was deeply involved. Hae-joo thinks Eun-tae and his team are in trouble.
Epilogue: Gi-tae Tries to Sound Like Eun-tae
The episode ends on a lighter note. Gi-tae sits down to write the meeting minutes from Eun-tae’s Laknes meeting and tries to talk like him while he does it.
The Ordinary Jackpot Episode 3 Review: A Win That Feels Earned
Eun-tae’s New Confidence Works
Episode 3 is a solid follow-up. It pulls Eun-tae and his team closer together and shows what he meant when he said he was going to shake things up. His newfound confidence is a great look on him, and Lee Jun-hyuk does a good job showing how different this Eun-tae is from the person we met earlier.
Just as important, his plan is finally clear. He has no intention of letting Team 5 stay the overworked underdog. He’s going to fight for them and get them the recognition they deserve, and watching him push Laknes for more than anyone asked for made that feel real rather than just talk.
Jun-ho and Eun-tae Make a Good Pair
I really enjoyed seeing Eun-tae and Jun-ho work as a duo this time. Their skills complement each other, and the Laknes scene is the best showcase of that so far. The Joo-hee conversation deserves credit too, because it explains how the teams compete with each other in a way that’s easy to follow without a long lecture.
Deputy Director Jang remains one of the more interesting characters. Eun-tae clearly admires the leader Jang used to be, even if Jang’s priorities have shifted since then. That tension gave the after-meeting scene more weight than I expected.
What Didn’t Work for Me
There’s one downside. All the talk about margins and percentages could sail over your head, depending on how much you know about sales and business. I followed the general idea, but I can see some viewers tuning out during the negotiation.
Setting Up the Next Challenge
The episode hands Eun-tae and his team a genuine win and then uses its final stretch to stir up trouble. Who knew Jung Seon-hyeok would go from friend to foe so quickly? Or at least, that’s what the episode seems to hint at. The arrival of Jang Hyang-eun, with a warning attached, is bound to shake things up as well.
This may not be the flashiest series out there yet, but there’s a genuinely interesting story taking shape here, and Episode 3 gives me good reason to keep watching.
