Synopsis
Frances Neagley is a private investigator in Chicago and a former military protégé of Jack Reacher in the Army’s 110th Special Investigations Unit. When a beloved friend from her past is killed in what looks like a suspicious accident, Neagley refuses to accept the official story. Drawing on everything she learned from Reacher and her years with the 110, she sets off on a dangerous path to expose the truth, one that turns out to run far deeper than a single death.
Unlike Reacher, which adapts Lee Child’s novels directly, Neagley tells an original story built specifically for the character, giving Maria Sten room to explore sides of Neagley the mothership series never had space for, her history, her instincts, and what she’s like when she’s not operating in Reacher’s orbit.
Cast and Characters
Main Cast
Maria Sten as Frances Neagley, the title character and former 110th Special Investigator, now working as a private investigator in Chicago. Sten reprises the role she’s played across Reacher’s first four seasons, this time carrying a series on her own.
Greyston Holt as Detective Hudson Riley, a Chicago PD detective pulled into Neagley’s investigation.
Adeline Rudolph as Renee Birdwhistle, a key figure in the case Neagley is unraveling.
Jasper Jones as Keno, part of the world Neagley’s investigation drags her into.
Matthew Del Negro as Pierce Woodrow, a supporting player tied to the central mystery.
Damon Herriman as Lawrence Cole, rounding out the main ensemble.
Alan Ritchson as Jack Reacher (guest star), reprising his role from Reacher in a crossover appearance that ties the spinoff back to the mothership series.

Critical Reception
Neagley premiered only hours ago alongside this guide’s publication, so critic and audience scores are not yet available. This section will be updated with Rotten Tomatoes and audience reception as reviews come in.
Renewal Odds
No second season has been confirmed as of this writing. Amazon MGM Studios has framed Neagley as a natural extension of an already-proven Reacher audience rather than a standalone gamble, which is a reasonably good sign for the franchise’s confidence in the character, but any renewal will likely depend on how the first season’s viewership numbers land in the coming weeks.
Why It’s Worth Watching
Neagley is a rare kind of spinoff: instead of leaning on Jack Reacher to carry the weight, it hands the wheel entirely to a supporting character who’s earned it across four seasons of scene-stealing moments. Maria Sten has always been one of Reacher’s most compelling performers, and an original story, rather than a novel adaptation, means the show isn’t boxed in by source material Reacher fans already know the ending to.
The Chicago setting is also a genuine change of scenery from Reacher’s usual drifting-through-small-towns formula, and Alan Ritchson’s guest appearance gives longtime fans a reason to check in even if they’re on the fence about a spinoff.
Watch it if you like: Reacher, Jack Ryan, or any action-mystery built around a military-trained protagonist who refuses to let a case go.
