Anna Pigeon Season 1 Episode 10 Recap & Ending Explained: A Fake SOS, a Hunting Party, and a Mystery Left Wide Open

Spoiler warning: this Anna Pigeon season 1 episode 10 recap covers the full finale, including how it ends.

The Anna Pigeon season 1 finale throws almost everything at the screen: a staged rescue call, a million-dollar manhunt, a showdown with Paulson, and a flash of memory that changes how Anna sees the night she found Zach. Some of it works beautifully. A lot of it left me annoyed. Below is the full episode 10 recap, the ending explained, and my honest review of what lands and what doesn’t.

A Self-Inflicted Broken Leg and a Winter Gamble

The finale opens on something unsettling. A man deliberately breaks his own leg in a remote corner of the park, then records a video message for someone. We don’t know why yet, and the episode takes its time telling us.

Back at base, most of the rangers are packing up for winter. Anna chooses to stay and take her chances in the park, which tells you plenty about where her head is. Before the others leave, they pitch in to track down her missing cat, a small, warm moment that I appreciated before things turned ugly.

Geoff’s Dilemma and Anna’s Push

Later, Anna video calls Molly while getting ready to meet the prosecutor handling JP’s case. Then Geoff calls and asks to meet. His dog is in critical condition, and he’s thinking about giving in to Paulson’s demand and selling his land. Paulson has already poisoned the water and driven everyone else out, so the pressure on Geoff is enormous.

Anna urges him to fight back instead of folding. Geoff doesn’t commit, but he promises to think it over.

Posters, a Prosecutor, and a Smug Paulson

Anna decides to needle Paulson directly. She puts up posters accusing him of poisoning Geoff’s dogs. Then she sits down with the prosecutor, explains what happened with JP, and asks whether the case can be won. The prosecutor sounds confident. Someone also mentions in passing that Bethany is now going by Paulson. Anna barely registers it, but keep that detail in your back pocket.

On her way out, she bumps into Paulson himself. He finds the posters cute and irritating in equal measure, and he makes her an offer: recant your statement, and he’ll tell her about her husband’s case. Anna doesn’t bite. She calls his bluff and tells him she’s going to take him down. Afterward, Paulson asks his bodyguard to confirm that Anna really is staying through the winter. That question turned out to matter a lot.

The SOS Call That Sends Anna Into the Wilderness

Anna returns to the abandoned station and picks up an SOS call. She leaves right away to help whoever is in trouble.

On horseback, she finds Dawson, the man with the self-inflicted broken leg. She gives him first aid, and he begs her not to leave him while she goes for more help. His solution is to hop slowly beside her down the hill.

During the steep descent, Dawson lets something slip: some people have been doing exploratory mining in the park. That’s when Anna connects the dots and realizes how the water got contaminated. But while she’s distracted by his wound, Dawson turns on her.

He takes her gun and backpack, forces her to zip-tie her own hands and legs, and orders her to put on an ankle bracelet. Then he leaves her behind. She frees herself and goes after him, but he fires at her and tells her to go back to where she found him.

She climbs back up and finds a sleeping bag. Dawson made one mistake, though: he forgot to take her knife. She uses it to cut off the ankle bracelet and ditch it.

Paulson’s 3 Million Bet

While Anna is struggling on the mountain, Paulson and two wealthy friends are preparing to head out at dawn the next day. Their plan is to hunt Anna like an animal, and they put a 3 million bet on it. It’s an absurd setup, but it explains why Paulson wanted to know whether she was staying the winter.

Anna Hunts the Hunters

Does Paulson kill Anna? No. She flips the situation and takes out his hunting party one by one. I’ll admit this was the part of the episode I enjoyed most, even if the setup around it is shaky.

Stanton, Jessie, and the Shackles

Meanwhile, Stanton is in town questioning Jessie about the other activities of his eco-sabotage group. Out of spite, he shackles himself to Jessie so Jessie can’t run. It’s a petty, funny detail in an otherwise tense episode.

Molly calls them to check on Anna after her own call with Jeremiah, where she claimed to be Anna’s sister. Jeremiah’s reply was ominous: Anna won’t be a problem much longer.

Alarmed, Stanton, Jessie, and Zoey start tracking Anna after learning she answered an SOS call and that only her horse came back. Along the way, the two men admit they like Anna and can picture a future with her.

The Showdown, and a Memory in Red

Back in the park, Anna confronts Paulson with one of the Glocks she took from his friends hidden on her. He tells her the police believe she killed her husband, and he brags about his plan to own the park. He moves to shoot her, but she fires first. Stanton arrives right then and secures the scene.

Then comes the moment that stuck with me. The sight of blood, combined with Paulson’s words, stirs something in Anna’s memory. She remembers a woman in a red dress and jacket in the room when she found Zach.

How Anna Pigeon Season 1 Ends

Bethany tells the prosecutor that Paulson threatened to kill her if she didn’t help JP. She also admits she wanted Paulson to acknowledge her as his daughter, and that she was afraid of him.

The final minutes: Anna packs up and leaves. Stanton gets a promotion. The mysterious woman in the red dress visits Molly at her office. And Bethany ends up at Paulson’s house.

Anna Pigeon S1E10 Review: A Finale That Fires and Misses

What Works

  • Anna’s resourcefulness. The forgotten knife, the cut ankle bracelet, and the way she turns a hunt against the hunters give her a real moment of competence. It’s the most satisfying stretch of the episode.
  • The mining reveal. Dawson’s slip about exploratory mining finally gives the poisoned water an explanation. It ties a loose thread to something concrete.
  • The red dress memory. Anna’s flash of the woman in red is a strong image, and it hooks you without needing a lot of dialogue.
  • Stanton and Jessie. The shackle moment and the admission that both men like Anna add some warmth and humor to a heavy episode.

What Doesn’t Work

  • No answer on Zach. Who killed Zach has been the central mystery all season, and the finale doesn’t resolve it. We get a new mysterious woman and some hints that Molly knows more than she says. I’m frustrated, plain and simple.
  • Stanton never asks. He’s reinvestigating the case, yet he never questions Anna about it. That felt like a plot hole, not a choice.
  • A rushed Paulson storyline. Anna and Paulson are supposed to be arch enemies, but they barely interact all season. Then, out of nowhere, he fakes an SOS call to hunt her. His villain turn came across as comical and absurd to me.
  • The Bethany cliffhanger. She gets away with murder and appears set to inherit her father’s empire. The smirk is unnerving, but her storyline never felt earned, and the finale didn’t change my mind.

Rating: 5/10

Strong in moments, weak in structure. The hunt and the red dress memory are worth watching, but the unanswered central mystery and the rushed villain arc hold the finale back. With Anna Pigeon season 2 already renewed, I’m hoping the writers tighten things up.
